YOUR TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES

As Head of Engineering and Software Solutions (f/m/d) you will be responsible for leading a multifunctional, self-organizing software engineering team consisting of 13 people located in Darmstadt and Gilching, defining the strategy related to the company’s software solutions, enabling software-level collaboration within the SSC group and supporting the organization in identifying, pursuing and exploiting business opportunities in the European space sector. The main tasks include:

  • Mentor, coach, and develop a team of software engineers with varying levels of experience in an agile manner;
  • Define and implement the strategy for our software solutions;
  • Drive the modernization of our tools and software development processes;
  • Stay abreast of new software technologies and best practices;
  • Manage projects’ budgets and expenses;
  • Promote the company’s products;
  • Act as the proposal manager for all proposals related to our software solutions;
  • Willingness to travel.

YOUR PROFILE

  • University degree in software engineering, computer science, aerospace engineering or similar engineering discipline;
  • Strong people and leadership skills;
  • Experience with mission operations and ground segment systems;
  • Demonstrated experience leading software implementation projects;
  • Extensive experience in developing, deploying, and integrating software solutions;
  • In depth knowledge of and practical experience with the latest software development trends related to DevOps, frameworks, containerization, cloud-based software solutions and, object-oriented programming, particularly Java and Python;
  • Familiarity with the Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC) process;
  • Proven experience with SCRUM implementation;
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills;
  • Strong customer focus;
  • Commitment to teamwork, self-organization, and continuous improvement;
  • Independent, self-driven;
  • Full proficiency in English;
  • Good knowledge and network in the NewSpace market.
