What You’ll Do

As the leader for Speech AI on the Collaboration AI team, you will lead a diverse team of talented machine learning engineers in the development and deployment of in-house ASR models and other speech-based features in products like the Webex Suite, the Webex Contact Center and others. You will be responsible for the strategy, development, and execution of various Speech AI initiatives and ensure success from model research and prototyping to product delivery in the form of cloud services or edge-based models. You will also be responsible for mentoring and guiding the team to improve their skills and achieve their professional goals.

Responsibilities

• Lead a team of machine learning engineers in the implementation of production grade models for speech recognition, text normalization, language identification, speaker recognition and related applications;
• Develop and execute a strategic plan for ML R&D, ensuring alignment with business objectives and customer needs;
• Collaborate with different product groups to ensure seamless integration of our ML solutions into their product offerings;
• Stay up-to-date with the latest developments and trends in machine learning, and leverage that knowledge to drive innovation while ensuring compliance with all relevant regulations, including data privacy laws and customer agreements;
• Foster a collaborative and inclusive team culture that values diversity, inclusion, and open communication;
• Mentor and guide team members, providing feedback, coaching, and support to help them grow professionally;
• Actively participate in hiring activities to grow the team further.

Minimum Requirements

• Master’s degree or higher in Computer Science, Mathematics, or related field;
• 7+ years of experience in speech recognition;
• 3+ years of experience leading a team of machine learning engineers.

Preferred Requirements

• Proven track record of designing and shipping ASR or other ML models in real world production systems;
• Excellent communication skills and ability to work effectively in a team environment;
• Experience with cloud computing platforms such as GCP or AWS is a plus;
• Evidence of cutting-edge research in ASR (publications, patents, talks, etc.) is a plus.
