The Mission

Within the Digital Identity program, you will work on building solutions which will enable users to access online and offline public and private services and to store and share digital documents. You will work on microservices that address the most recent electronic identification, authentication, and trust services regulations.

As an Engineer working on the Digital Identity program, you will be responsible for developing, delivering and innovating all lifecycle processes and features of ING’s Retail & Banking Technology. 

Together with the other teams (squads) within the product area, you will strive to provide uniform security across ING, to safeguard the trust of our customers. The teams of this product area are working in close collaboration between Romania and Netherlands, and this position is based in Romania.

Your day to day

Even if you start your day in the comfort of your home or drink your morning coffee in our office garden, your day will be quite similar when it comes to tasks. Here are your daily responsibilities:

  • Create scalable software platforms and applications that are unit tested, code reviewed and checked regularly for continuous integration.
  • Manage applications and integration with other data suppliers.
  • Plan and execute full software development life cycles (SDLC) for each assigned project, adhering to company standards and expectations.
  • Examine existing systems, identifying flaws and creating solutions to improve service uptime and time-to-resolve through monitoring and automated remediation.
  • Design and build tools and frameworks to automate development, testing deployment, management and monitoring of the company’s 24x7 services and products.
  • Plan and scale distributed software and applications, applying synchronous and asynchronous design patterns, write code, and deliver with urgency and quality.
  • Resolve incidents raised by stakeholders.
  • As part of a cross-border Squad, you work in an Agile/Scrum way, on the backlog prioritized by a Product Owner.

What you’ll bring to the team

  • Experience: minimum 5 years
  • Tech stack/ knowledge:
    • Mandatory:
      • JVM language – Kotlin/Java/Scala
      • Good knowledge of Spring Framework and Microservices
      • NoSQL/SQL databases (Cassandra, SQL Server)
      • Tooling: OpenShift or any container orchestration solution
      • Experience with async communication channels (we leverage Kafka a lot).
    • Nice to have:
      • Experience with building OAuth2/OpenID clients
      • Azure DevOps
      • Experience with distributed teams
  • Foreign languages: English (advanced)
  • Education: Bachelor’s Degree (or higher) in an IT related field
