About the Role

Silicon Labs is building a world class Software Centre of Excellence in Budapest. We are looking for a motivated Software Quality Assurance (SQA) professional to take on the leadership of our Wi-SUN test team.

This role is ideal for someone with some prior leadership or technical lead who is ready to take the next step and manage a small test team (3-4 direct reports). Unlike traditional manager roles, this position involves a significant hands-on focus: the majority of your time will be spent on test design, execution, and automation, with a smaller portion dedicated to team coordination and reporting.

You will be responsible for ensuring comprehensive test coverage for Wi-SUN protocol features, leading the team’s day-to-day activities, and validating our embedded products using a Python-based automated test framework. The role includes close collaboration with other global SQA groups and development teams in Budapest and Rennes (FR).

Responsibilities

• Manage the local team, including people management, resource allocation, and team development;
• Ensure project deliveries are as per commitment, and track the timely automation;
• Regularly present the progress of the projects to local and global leadership;
• Perform functional and non-functional automated tests for Silicon Labs’ embedded wireless products;
• Develop comprehensive test plans, strategies and approaches for Wi-SUN feature testing;
• Design and implement pytest-based tests for our embedded Wi-SUN solutions;
• Maintain, manage and improve automated test scripts, test cases and tools;
• Analyze and debug issues found during the test cycle;
• Utilize generative AI tools, such as GitHub Copilot and Cursor, to enhance coding efficiency and leverage other benefits;
• You will frequently interact with a co-located SW Development Team as well as with regional Program Managers and Applications Engineers.

Skills You Will Need

Experience:

• 7+ years of experience in software testing/development;
• 1+ year of experience of team/tech leading;
• Proficient in resource management tools like Jira or similar;
• Possess a strong sense of responsibility and an ability to work independently under minimal supervision.

Technical Expertise:

• Expertise in automation and test implementation;
• Strong proficiency in Python programming and git;
• Embedded experience (any).

Soft Skills:

• Excellent communication skills to effectively collaborate with cross-functional and international teams, document test results, and present findings and status clearly to stakeholders;
• Agile attitude: IoT thrives on flexibility and lean processes.

We consider the following experience as a plus:

• Testing Certification: ISTQB certification or equivalent training;
• Developer or test experience with either wired or wireless communication protocols;
• IP or IEEE 802.15.4 experience;
• Experience with C/C++ for embedded systems or low-level testing;
• DevOps experience (Jenkins, Docker, GitHub Actions, Conan, etc.).
