At Evotec’s headquarters in Hamburg, Germany, the Global IT team is searching for a highly motivated and dedicated Systems Engineer to support the provisioning, operation, and continuous optimization of our Linux-based IT infrastructure. This role plays a key part in ensuring system performance, security, and scalability across the enterprise, while driving automation and supporting end users in a global environment.

Main Responsibilities:

Linux Server Provisioning & Management

• Install, configure, and manage Linux servers to ensure a stable and efficient IT environment
• Plan and implement new servers and maintain existing systems

Patch & Security Management

• Perform regular updates and patching to ensure system security and stability
• Monitor security bulletins and implement patches in a timely manner
• Identify, assess, and remediate security vulnerabilities through analysis, monitoring, and preventive measures

Global IT Systems Logging Platform

• Develop, implement, and manage a comprehensive logging platform using Elasticsearch and Logstash
• Ensure reliable collection, indexing, and storage of log data from various IT systems
• Monitor, maintain, and optimize the performance and availability of the logging infrastructure

System Maintenance, Troubleshooting & Performance Optimization

• Perform regular updates, configuration changes, and maintenance activities
• Diagnose and resolve issues related to system performance, log data collection, processing, and storage
• Analyze server performance and implement optimization measures to ensure high availability and efficiency

End User Support & Automation

• Advise and support end users on server infrastructure needs and technical questions
• Provide training to ensure effective use of server resources
• Automate recurring tasks and complex processes using scripting and tooling

Additional Responsibilities

• Create, maintain, and continuously update operational, process, and system documentation
• Participate in IT projects focused on developing, optimizing, and modernizing the IT infrastructure

Qualifiactions:

• Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field
• Ideally several years of experience in Linux server administration, preferably in an enterprise environment
• Experience with Elasticsearch, Logstash, and related technologies is an advantage
• In-depth knowledge of Linux operating systems (e.g., RHEL, Ubuntu) and virtualization technologies
• Proficiency in scripting languages such as Bash, Python, or Perl for automation
• Good understanding of networking concepts and protocols (TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, etc.)
• Strong security awareness and experience handling security vulnerabilities
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
• Clear communication skills with the ability to explain technical topics to end users
• Team-oriented mindset and willingness to support colleagues
