Role Overview

Mercor is seeking Office.js-proficient JavaScript experts to support a cutting-edge training initiative with a leading AI lab. This project focuses on enhancing AI agents’ capabilities within Microsoft Excel by refining code-based interactions. Experts will help validate and correct Office.js scripts generated during data creation workflows, contributing to a high-quality dataset that pairs user prompts with executable Excel logic. This is a short-term, remote opportunity ideal for developers with strong scripting skills and familiarity with Excel’s object model.

Key Responsibilities

• Review Office.js scripts generated by large language models (LLMs) and Excel’s “Record Actions” feature
• Modify scripts to ensure compatibility with Excel and accuracy of output
• Validate script performance by comparing output .xlsx files to expert-generated references
• Collaborate asynchronously with prompt writers and spreadsheet experts to finalize datasets
• Provide clear corrections to improve code reliability for AI training use cases

Ideal Qualifications

• Strong proficiency in Office.js and JavaScript, particularly for Excel add-ins and automation
• 2–6 years of relevant software development experience
• Prior experience working with Excel APIs and spreadsheet automation tools
• Excellent debugging and script validation skills
• Ability to interpret natural language prompts and translate into accurate spreadsheet logic

More About the Opportunity

• Expected commitment: ~10–25 hours/week
• Project duration: ~1 month

Contract and Payment Terms

• You will be engaged as an independent contractor
• This is a fully remote role that can be completed on your own schedule
• Projects can be extended, shortened, or concluded early depending on needs and performance
• Your work at Mercor will not involve access to confidential or proprietary information from any employer, client, or institution
• Payments are weekly on Stripe or Wise based on services rendered
