Position

As hardware engineer in the application engineering team, the holder of this job is responsible for the efficient bringing to market of short range radio products by supporting the first line support team, in all aspects of resolution of technical problems as well as pre-sales activities. The function supports the improvement of existing products and the creation of new products by collecting and examination of market feedback and by analysis of competitive products. The efficiency of the application of our products is supported with the creation and maintenance of support tools and training of our Field Application Engineers and the Sales Staff in general.

Responsibilities

Training, Information Exchange and Support

  • Creation and maintenance of training materials for u-blox short range radio products;
  • Preparation and maintenance of design-in supporting documents (manuals, application notes);
  • Implementation and maintenance of Know-How exchange among FAE´s and from product development team to FAE (issues, design recommendations, bugs, and feature roadmap);
  • 2nd level support (escalation point of contact in R&D for FAE);
  • Coordinate issue replication and resolution between FAE and product development teams;
  • Hardware schematic reviews and advice, layout analysis;
  • Lead/Key customer design support upon Sales/FAE´s request.

Competition analysis (technical focus)

  • Customer specific/small Design Projects;
  • Customization of core R&D deliverables.

Reference designs and demos

  • Participation in Product Life-cycle Process;
  • Preparation and delivery of technical field/market feedback in specification phase;
  • Dissemination of information to FAE organization after Prototype Release;
  • Technical RMA analysis (engineering backend for RMA process under lead of Quality department).

Requirements

  • MS or BS in electrical engineering or computer science;
  • Several years’ work experience in hardware design (schematics and layout, preferably in Altium);
  • Customer-oriented, needs to be able to quickly understand the system architecture of customer's application, and advise field application engineers or key customer on possibilities, and consult on a technical level;
  • Good analytical skills;
  • Used to work independently and precisely;
  • Good English communication and interpersonal skills;
  • Technical writing capabilities;
  • Holder of a Swedish work permit.

Knowledge in the following areas is an advantage

  • Wireless knowledge in general and Bluetooth and WLAN knowledge in particular;
  • UART, SPI, I2C, USB, SDIO and other communication interfaces;
  • Scripting and embedded programming;
  • Knowledge of additional European or APAC languages is an asset.
