We are seeking a skilled Senior Database Platform Engineer to join our team. As a Senior Database Platform Engineer, you will be responsible for implementing, building and managing Oracle database platforms in a hybrid setup (Azure and on-prem data centers) ensuring the automation, scalability, reliability, and security of database services.
You will be involved in the full lifecycle of new solutions—requirements gathering, design, implementation, testing, and production rollout—along with day-to-day operations, incident response, and continuous optimization. You will collaborate closely with application teams, infrastructure, security, and stakeholders to deliver highquality solutions on time and to agreed service levels.
Key Responsibilities:
Install, configure, automate and administer Oracle Database (single instance and clustered as applicable), including upgrades and patching, parameter management, and instance/database lifecycle operations;
Design, implement, and support high availability and disaster recovery (HA/DR) (e.g., Oracle RAC, Data Guard/Active Data Guard, and backup-based recovery patterns as applicable);
Own backup (Rubrik), restore, and recovery processes; regularly test restores and contribute to disaster recovery readiness;
Implement and maintain database security controls: users/roles/privileges, auditing, encryption (TDE), and hardening aligned to internal standards;
Automate routine DBA operations using scripting (Bash/Shell, Python) and configuration tooling (Ansible); improve reliability through standardization and repeatable runbooks;
Administer Oracle database hosts on Linux and/or Windows, coordinating OS-level configuration needed for stable database operations (kernel settings, filesystems/ASM, time sync, networking);
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to support application releases, troubleshoot production issues, and advise on data model and query patterns;
Work independently, mentor others, and contribute to improving the team’s technical maturity and operational standards (on-call, incident/problem management, SRE-aligned practices where applicable);
Optimize resource usage and cost (capacity planning, licensing considerations, and performance efficiency) while ensuring compliance with SLAs and regulatory requirements.
Job Requirements:
Strong background in Oracle Database administration: installation, configuration, monitoring, upgrades/patching, performance tuning, security, and backup/restore/recovery (RMAN);
Hands-on experience with HA/DR technologies such as Oracle RAC and Oracle Data Guard (including switchover/failover planning and execution);
Strong automation mindset (scripting and repeatable deployments/operations) and solid Linux administration fundamentals;
Working understanding of networking and storage concepts (latency, throughput, IOPS) and their impact on Oracle performance.
Nice to Have:
Experience with Oracle on Azure, including VM-based deployments and networking/storage considerations;
Experience with CI/CD solutions (Azure DevOps, GitHub Actions);
Infrastructure as Code and configuration management (Terraform, Ansible) for database platform provisioning and standardization;
