We are looking for an Expert Software Engineer with strong hands-on engineering expertise and technical leadership capabilities. This role is ideal for an experienced engineer who thrives in complex cloud-native environments, drives technical direction, mentors developers through hands-on collaboration, and takes ownership of mission-critical platform capabilities. This is a highly hands-on technical leadership role

What You'll Do

As part of our engineering team, you will design and develop scalable cloud-native applications and platform services on top of SAP Business Technology Platform and modern AI/data technologies.

Your main focus areas will include:

Backend services and APIs
Data ingestion and orchestration pipelines
Data persistency and processing services
Platform scalability and operational excellence
Cloud-native application development
AI and data platform integration scenarios

You will collaborate closely with architects, product managers, and distributed engineering teams across SAP Business AI to shape the next generation of AI-powered enterprise services.

The Role

As an Expert Software Engineer, you will:

Lead the technical implementation of scalable cloud-native platform services
Drive architecture and engineering decisions across backend services, APIs, and data processing pipelines
Take end-to-end ownership of complex technical topics from design to productive operations
Build highly scalable, reliable, and maintainable software solutions
Improve platform reliability, observability, performance, and operational maturity
Mentor and guide developers through hands-on technical leadership and engineering excellence
Drive engineering best practices, CI/CD standards, automation, and quality improvements
Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams within SAP Business AI
Contribute to AI-enabled engineering workflows and modern development practices

What You Bring

Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Business Informatics, or a related technical field
Strong hands-on experience in backend and cloud application development
Excellent expertise in JavaScript/TypeScript and Node.js
Strong understanding of distributed systems and cloud-native architectures
Experience designing and building scalable APIs and backend services
Solid understanding of common architectural patterns such as REST and event-driven architectures
Strong ownership mindset with the ability to independently drive technical topics
Passion for clean architecture, engineering excellence, scalability, and maintainability
Curiosity and practical interest in AI technologies, LLM ecosystems, and AI-powered development workflows
