Skills

• Excellent understanding of machine learning techniques and algorithms, such as k-NN, Naive Bayes, SVM, Decision Forests, etc.;
• Experience with working on extremely large datasets;
• Proficient in at least one data science programming language such as Scala, R, Python;
• Proficiency with Databases/BigData/ETL technologies such as SQL, Hive, Hbase, Spark etc.;
• Excellent communication skills and ability to present results in a concise manner;
• Good applied statistics skills, such as distributions, statistical testing, regression, etc.;
• Working knowledge of Information Technology concepts;
• A degree in Statistics is an added advantage;
• Experience with cloud technologies is an added advantage;

Qualifications

• Bachelor/Master’s Degree;
• At least 3-6 years of Work Experience in a similar role.

Responsibilities

• Understands security use cases and develops algorithms to identify malicious behaviors and anomalies;
• Ideates on strategies to address the lack of labeled samples and highly imbalanced data set;
• Handle processing, cleansing, and verifying the integrity of data used for analysis;
• Deals with selecting features, building and optimizing classifiers using machine learning techniques;
• Creates automated detection models based on data collected through network security devices, operating systems, applications, and other sources;
• Defines business-specific performance metrics to measure model effectiveness;
• Collaborates with the product engineering team to integrate the models into production;
• Monitors and improves metrics over time for models used in a production environment;
• Performs ad-hoc analysis and presents results in a clear manner;
• Researches and evangelizes new machine learning and/or statistical techniques.
